Selma, Texas · Late Night Pit BBQ
Real Texas BBQ, Smoked Slow & Served Late
Brisket that "never saw a freezer," loaded nachos, and a peach cobbler people drive back for. Blue Pit Smokehouse fires up the pit inside the Bluebonnet Palace every Friday & Saturday night.
Our Story
Pit Smoke, Honest Portions, Southern Hospitality
Blue Pit Smokehouse serves up authentic Texas barbecue from inside the Bluebonnet Palace, a Selma dance hall where the pit runs hot late into the night. Everything is smoked low and slow — brisket, pulled pork, and boneless chicken come off tender and juicy, with a smoke ring that says it was never near a freezer. Guests keep coming back for the loaded nachos and loaded fries, the Saddle Bags tacos, and the Ranch Hand sandwich piled onto toasted bread — or ask for warm tortillas instead, the way regulars do.
It's a family-run kitchen with a big heart. One night a large party cleaned out part of the menu right before a solo traveler walked in — the owner made it right anyway, topping off the plate and telling him to just take care of his server. That's the spirit here: generous plates, honest smoke, and people who treat you like you've been coming for years.
Pull up a seat, order a sweet tea (the true Southern variety), and don't leave without a scoop of peach cobbler. We do Military Discounts, too.

“Food here is excellent. I've been twice and the Brisket and Boneless chicken is great. The waiters were super nice and accommodating. Definitely will be back for a third time. They do Military Discounts.”

“Sweet tea was of the true Southern variety. Loaded nachos were so good we didn't get a chance to take a picture. Saddle Bags were huge meat tacos. The Ranch Hand was on toasted bread which let the brisket speak. Chicken Fried Steak was thick, with a really nice peppery gravy.”
— Drakhoan K.
“Since everything smoked is good, I tried the 1/2 pound plate with 2 sides. The owner was generous with what I ordered... The food itself was very good. Cooked well, warm, smoked flavor, tender, juicy, all the things you hope for.”

“Perfectly Smoked brisket! The chicken fried steak was crispy outside and tender inside, no way the meat ever saw a freezer. Great place, super friendly staff. Oh last thing, Eat the peach cobbler, yummy!”
— Rob L.
“The Texas BBQ is authentic and is great. The price is reasonable. Instead of cheap toast bread, you can select warm tortillas with your BBQ. The service is also great. The pulled pork is soft and juicy, strongly recommended.”
